How to Find Comic Cons Near You (and What to Do When There Are None)
The fastest ways to find a convention within driving distance: by state, by city, by weekend, and by letting the cons come to you with alerts and reminders.
Updated September 11, 2026
Start with your state
Every state has its own page on FanConHub, and it is the quickest way to see what is coming. Open the homepage and the "Cons near you" panel already shows the next shows in your state; tap the state name in that panel to get the full list with a map. Or type your state into the search box: "new mexico", "florida" and plain "NM" all work.
The state page lists every upcoming con we track there, soonest first, with the map alongside. Filter by month if you are planning a trip, or flip on "Include past events" to see how busy a state usually is across a year. Most states have a rhythm: the same shows come back in the same months.
Search by city
If you know the city you can reach, search for it directly. Orlando, Boston, Raleigh, Anaheim: the search box matches con names, cities, venues and states, and the suggestions under it fill in as you type. Cities with several shows a year also have their own page, linked from the state page.
Do not stop at the city limits. Many "big city" cons are actually held in the suburbs, at a hotel by the airport or a county fairground, and the listing shows the venue so you can judge the drive.
Check this weekend, then next
The "This weekend" page lists everything running Friday through Sunday across the country, and when the weekend is thin it lists next weekend underneath. It is the page to open when you have a free Saturday and want to know what is on.
Each event page also shows other cons running the same days in the same or a neighboring state, so if the one you clicked is sold out or too far, the alternative is right there.
Widen the circle
A two or three hour drive opens up a lot. When your state filter comes up empty, the page offers the neighboring states that do have shows, with counts. Fans in Delaware go to Philadelphia and Baltimore; fans in Vermont go to Boston and Albany. Treat the state line as a suggestion.
Big regional shows are worth the trip even if they are a state away. A convention with a few hundred artists and a full guest list is a different day out than a hotel ballroom show, and there are only so many of them each year.
Let the cons come to you
Looking is work; being told is not. Pick your state on the homepage and sign up for the weekly digest: every Thursday you get the next few cons near you, in time to make weekend plans. If nothing is coming up near you that week, we do not send anything.
Found a con you want to go to but it is months away? Every upcoming event page has a "Remind me" box. Enter your email and you get exactly one message a week before the show. No account, nothing else.
When your state is quiet
Some states have long gaps between shows, and some small cons are announced only a few weeks ahead. Organizers announce new shows all the time, and we add them every week, so a quiet state page in March can look very different in May. The "Newly added" page shows what joined the list in the last month.
If you know of a con we are missing, tell us on the submit page. Small library shows, comic shop anniversaries and school gym conventions are exactly the ones nobody else lists, and they are usually the closest to home.
